Product Description

Maurice Carlos Ruffin and Tad Bartlett have been active in the New Orleans legal community for almost two decades, while at the same time building their own "practices" as writers. Maurice's debut novel, We Cast a Shadow, has been critically acclaimed from all corners of the country, from the New York Times to the L.A. Times, and features the struggles of its protagonist, a black lawyer in an unnamed town you wouldn't be mistaken to recognize as New Orleans, as he tries to make partner at his big downtown firm while at the same time protecting his family from a world falling apart around them. In this one-hour professionalism CLE, Tad will interview Maurice and the two will engage in roundtable discussion with the attendees about how to use the practice of law and the practice of creative arts in a synergistic manner to make both practices shine, and how to balance the work of life and the life of work without having a breakdown, and will delve into some of the more serious topics of racism in society that are at the core of Maurice's novel.
