This will be a CLE discussing the state of carbon capture and sequestration in Louisiana. The high points will include a discussion about property rights (who owns the rights to pore space); a discussion about recent legislative and regulatory efforts to address the carbon capture trend (what is the impact of Act 61 and what regulatory changes are being contemplated to address Class VI well storage); a discussion about federal tax credits for storage (known as 45Q tax credits), and a high-level discussion about infrastructure and transactions (how do you get the CO2 into the pore space and how long can you keep it there).
